A practical guide to Pyramid Solitaire

Read the aim of Pyramid Solitaire, then make your first move. Remove all 28 pyramid cards. Use the example below to understand a decision. Begin with the solo mode shown on the page. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Pyramid, stock and waste; one stock recycle. Free solo play, no wagering.

Try a more deliberate round

After a move, check what changed. Decide which rule explains the new state before acting again. Refer to the controls when needed.

The objective of a round

Remove all 28 pyramid cards. Keep that objective in view throughout the round. Check the rules when you are unsure.

How to proceed

  1. Only uncovered cards are selectable. Pairs total 13; a king removes alone.
  2. Click an exposed card or eligible pair to remove it.
  3. Draw when useful.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

Using the playing area

Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Use the control method described here for this activity. Use the visible help when you are unsure of the next input.

Follow the example

An exposed queen pairs with an ace; a jack pairs with a 2. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Read the matching step again.

A mistake to avoid

Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Check the rule before repeating the action. When a decision goes wrong, compare it with the common mistake described below. Start again only when you intend to leave the current round.
